1. General info
==============

Sonic Advance Editor (SAE for friends) it's a general Sonic Advance game series editor designed for Windows. Currently only the level layout editor is implemented - other editors might eventually come with future updates.

.NET Framework is required, preferently 3.5.

Please note that the current version might not be fully stable nor it's considered to be finished. Always make backups of your ROM files.

2. Features / Planned stuff
==============

Current version:
- Supports Sonic Advance JAP, USA and EUR versions
- Palette and tileset viewer
- Level layout editor for BG1 and BG2
- Load stuff directly from a ROM file
- Save edited layout directly to the ROM file

Planned:
- Decent GUI
- Support for BG3
- Support for Sonic Advance 2 and 3
- Collision viewer and editor
- Palette editor
- Tile editor
- Metatile editor

3. Usage
==============

Select: File -> Open ROM File and choose an uncompressed Sonic Advance ROM file. Use the dropdown menus below the level layout window to select a level and a layer, and choose a metatile to paste using the metatile selector next to the palette.

Use the scrollbars to navigate through the level and the mouse to paste the metatiles.

Finally use File -> Save changes to save the edited level layout to the ROM. Make sure to save changes before loading a different level.
